Collection of realistic paintings

What do realistic paintings have to do with science and economics? The goal of every science is to describe their object of study with complete elucidation, accuracy and detail. I believe that realistic paintings epitomizes this goal.

This post is a list of realistic paintings I collected from the Wikimedia Commons and Wikipedia. I tried to find paintings that have extreme detail and accuracy. There is one painting per painter and they are chronologically ordered by date of birth of the painter. There are 54 paintings listed below.
